Why Sedulous?

Full-time employees are eligible to participate in the various benefit programs offered by Sedulous on their first day of employment.

We offer a choice to give employees flexibility in building a customized benefits package that meets their needs. Sedulous offers a variety of medical plan options, with different deductible options. We offer dental coverage including orthodontia as well as vision plans. Life insurance, long-term disability and the employee assistance program are also part of our benefits package.

Medical Insurance

Sedulous offers medical, dental and vision coverage for eligible employees and their eligible dependents. These programs are administered by a major, medical insurance carrier. An employee contribution for coverage will be deducted from your salary based on your benefit selections. The benefit summaries contain more details about these plans.

Dental Insurance

Sedulous offers a dental plan for eligible employees. Please refer to the dental summary description for an explanation of the plan benefits and limitations.

Vision Insurance

Sedulous offers a vision plan for eligible employees. Please refer to the vision summary description for an explanation of the plan benefits and limitations.

Short-Term Disability Plan (STD)

A short-term disability plan is available for eligible full-time employees, at the employee cost. Please refer to the STD summary description for an explanation of the plan benefits and limitations.

Long-Term Disability Plan (LTD)

Long-term disability coverage is provided for eligible full-time employees. This benefit would pay a portion of your regular salary for an extended period. LTD is employee specific. If you elect this type of coverage, please refer to the LTD summary description for an explanation of the plan benefits and limitations.

Life Insurance

Life insurance is available for eligible full-time employees, at no cost to the employee. Please refer to the Life Insurance summary for an explanation of the plan benefits and limitations.

Sedulous offers a high-quality 401(k) plan. Eligibility is the first of the month following your start date. Participants can elect to defer a portion of their salary to the plan on a pretax basis on which they may be eligible to receive employer matching contribution.

Sedulous recognizes many employees need flexibility in work schedules in order to meet personal needs. Core hours are 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and all employees should be at work during those hours. Within the structure of the core hours, you may schedule your eight (8) hours workday as you choose if the nature of your job permits such flexibility, and your supervisor approves your schedule.

Sedulous offers some employees the opportunity to telecommute. Not all jobs are suitable for telecommuting. You may telecommute up to two (2) days per week with the approval of your supervisor.

Prior approval for Flex Time and Telecommuting by your Program Management Office and Program Manager is required.

Vacation

Sedulous recognizes the importance of vacation time in providing rest, recreation, and wellness. Vacations are established on a calendar-year basis.

Full-time employees earn vacation time as follows:

  • • 1st through 2nd year of employment – Two (2) weeks
  • • 3rd through 10th year of employment – Three (3) weeks
  • • 11th year of employment and following – Four (4) weeks

Accrual and Carryover

Employees begin accruing vacation when they first begin to work for Sedulous. Employees may use their vacation at any time after the first 90 days of employment. Employees may carry over 40 hours of vacation into the next calendar year; any hours in excess of 40 hours will be lost.

Holiday Pay

Employees are entitled to the following 11 paid holidays:

  • • New Year’s Day (January 1)
  • • Martin Luther King Day (Third Monday in January)
  • • Presidents Day
  • • Memorial Day (Last Monday in May)
  • • Juneteenth National Independence Day
  • • Independence Day (July 4)
  • • Labor Day (First Monday in September)
  • • Columbus Day/ Indigenous Peoples’ Day
  • • Veteran’s Day
  • • Thanksgiving (Fourth Thursday in November)
  • • Christmas (December 25)

Sick Leave

Employees accrue 3.33 hours of personal leave each month, up to a total of five (5) days per 12-month period. You may carry over personal leave from year to year and accumulate a maximum of 80 hours of leave for full-time employees and 40 hours for part-time employees.

Sick leave may be used for the following:

  • • Medical and dental appointments for yourself or family members.
  • • Your personal illness or that of a member of your family; or
  • • Personal business that cannot be tended to outside of work hours, e.g., a house closing.

Sedulous recognizes employees for their day-to-day efforts that contribute in a special way to getting the job done. Under this non-monetary award program, supervisors may give immediate recognition to recognize and reward employee excellence.
An On-the-Spot (OTS) award is granted by supervisors to recognize accomplishments that represent steps toward achievement of organizational goals or purposes, but for which higher-level recognition such as honor awards, performance awards, or superior accomplishment awards are not appropriate. An OTS should not be used in place of paying overtime or compensatory time and is not meant to replace other traditional methods of recognition, but rather to increase supervisors’ options in rewarding and reinforcing employee excellence.
Rather than recognizing overall performance, the OTS acknowledges one or more specific instances of exemplary performance. Receipt of an OTS in this program does not preclude the same employee from receiving honorary recognition, a cash award, or a Quality Step Increase based on performance when criteria for such recognition are otherwise met.
The dollar value of an individual merchandise item may not exceed a total of $500. An employee may not receive merchandise items that exceed a total of $1,000 in a single calendar year, including any items received as part of a group. Individual supervisors are responsible for assuring compliance with the $1,000 limitation.

Performance Reviews, Salary Reviews

Initial performance reviews will be at the end of your first 90 days of employment with Sedulous. Typically, performance reviews will be conducted annually on or about your anniversary date. All performance reviews will be completed in writing by your supervisor or manager on the form designated by Sedulous and reviewed during a conference with you. Compensation increases are given by Sedulous at its discretion in consideration of various factors, including your performance review.
